The Boardwalk Café, Bendigo

The other weekend I was away in Kangaroo Flat for a Hens/Bachelorette weekend, and while most of the shenanigans and mischief happened at a private location, we did venture out for a sunny Sunday brunch in Bendigo!

The day was perfect for it - we had ample sunshine and a light breeze usher us into the café, and we were seated in the outdoor area because we had dogs with us in our group. Our server was a lovely chap from Newcastle, who made us feel very welcome and his energy lifted the whole group!

The sun was out but the breeze was chilly, so many of us opted for a hot drink upgraded to a mug, a move I’d recommend if you’re sitting outside! Food-wise I had the Kaiser Chiefs, though it was hard to pick from all the brilliantly-named items on the menu! They also have a very impressive range of high-quality treats for dogs, probably the most impressive selection I’ve seen at a café in Melbourne!

After we had our meals (which were delicious - the beetroot chutney in the Kaiser Chiefs is something I want to try and recreate at home someday, it was so good!) and another round of hot drinks, we wandered the boardwalk towards a hot donut van, played Pokémon Go, and then carried on with what was a most excellent day.
